The Women's Missionary Society Today
The Women's Missionary Society is a movement of dedicated Christian women. Each member, with their individual capabilities, is important.
The strength of the Society lies in the consolidation of the various talents offered in spirituality, art, organisation and policy.
Based on the Christian perception of God, men and women are equal partners whose dignity is respected due to their personhood.
This perception of humanity and the belief in Jesus Christ and in his liberating message are the foundation and motivation for the work and missionary mandate of the Women's Missionary Society.
The Women's Missionary Society is represented at national level by the President and the Ecclesiastical Advisory Council.ï€ Representation at diocesan level is carried out by the diocese and district heads and Ecclesiastical Advisory Councils.
At present, 13,000 members represent the Society in 18 dioceses nationwide.
The Society is a permanent guest in the:
- Sub-Commission for Missionary Issues (in particular MISSIO) of the German Bishops' Conference.
The Society is a member of the following bodies:
- Central Committee of German Catholics (Zentralkomitee der Deutschen Katholiken - ZdK)
- Working Group of Catholic Women's Associations (Arbeitsgemeinschaft katholischer Frauenverbände) and thereby the German Women's Council (Deutscher Frauenrat)
- German Catholic Mission Council (Deutscher Katholischer Missionsrat - DKMR)
- Medical Mission Institute (Missionsärztliches Institut).
